Wow, i just realised it's been a month since my last confession, i just got back from a busy Sewing for Pleasure show at the NEC. I haven't done a show since last August so it was great to catch up with old pals and make new ones. i'm having a nice rest now. i went to Compton Verney Art Gallery today cos i'm doing some workshops as part of a fantastic textile exhibition they are having in the summer. It's called The Fabric of Myth The exhibition will include rarely seen historic objects (Greek vases, manuscripts, tapestries and embroidery) alongside work by artists including Joseph Beuys, Louise Bourgeois, Alice Kettle, Henry Moore, Elaine Reichek, Bispo Do Rosario, Tilleke Schwarz, Judith Scott, Leonid Tishkov and Michelle Walker.
i had a look at some of the artists work and i was taken in particular by the artist Judith Scott take a look at this video to find out more about her. She is deaf and does not speak with many other disabilities. One of the commentators says that she does not know that she is a world renowned artist but is compelled from within to make these incredible pieces which makes you wonder if as artists we always make our art for other people to see.
